How long have you worked at Community Trust?
Since July 2021
What does this We Care philosophy mean to you?
I love the "we care" philosophy. A lot of what we do in our personal life, and spare time shapes the person we are, and the person who shows up for work Monday-Friday. It's who we are and the experiences we go through in life that give us the confidence to do better and be better though our work life. And the same goes vice versa, I feel supported and in a work environment that feels purposeful, and I thrive in my personal life when my work life is thriving.
How do you embody Community Trust's We Care philosophy in your day-to-day work?
I have the pleasure of working with different departments on a day-to-day basis, and I always take the time to show other employees that I care, and we are apart of ONE team. Team moral and getting to know people on your team and break the ice and making someone smile throughout the day goes along way. Now being a manager, I want all my team members to feel appreciated and supported, through regular touch points. Getting to know someone on a personal level and building healthy working relationships is a key component to being happy in a working environment.
Do you participate in any type of volunteer work (with Community Trust or on your own time)? If so, tell us about your volunteer work and why it is important to you!
In my personal life I volunteer with the Tourism Team in Bell Island Newfoundland, where I spend my summers. I also spent last winter volunteering to teach children how to skate in Newfoundland. In addition, I have helped numerous church events on the island helping raise money for the church, due to Covid that slowed down a tad.
It is important to recognize mentors, teachers, and even family and friends during the course of your life and career. What is the best advice you've ever received from an important figure in your life?
Its okay to fall, its how you get back up that truly matters.
Just for fun, do you have any interesting or unusual hobbies?
I own a quad and paddle board, and my summers are spent on the trails going places you can’t quite get to in a car. Owning a paddle board and being out on the water has been an amazing self gratitude activity, struggling but having fun at the same time being on the water is blissful.
